Pellet Fireplace Inserts are pellet stoves that look like fireplaces when installed into your existing fireplace space. There are a couple of options to choose from when deciding on buying a pellet fireplace insert:
Fireplace insert that includes pellet stove: First you could purchase the fireplace insert that includes the pellet stove which is the most costly choice but you will receive everything you need to start heating your room straight away.
Fireplace insert that you use with existing pellet stove: The second option is to choose an insert that just goes over the top of your current pellet stove and is the least expensive way to achieve the fireplace look using a pellet stove. When choosing to get a fireplace insert that works with your existing pellet stove then you need to make sure that the insert will work with your particular fireplace.
Certain fireplaces such as masonry fireplaces will require specific types of inserts and other inserts will only work with factory built metal fireplaces. It’s therefore important when buying a pellet fireplace insert that you read the exact specification and installation manual.
When installing an insert on top of your pellet stove then we recommend that you make sure that you install a non-combustible floor protection cover. You may also need to add spacers between the floor and your pellet stove so provide needed air space for your stove.
When deciding on which pellet insert to buy make sure you only read the actual BTU’s of the unit rather than the heating capacity. You only really care about how much heat that the unit can provide rather than listening to the manufacture tell you how much space they think it can warm. Many manufactures will often make wild estimates about the amount of space that their stove can handle so i would just keep to the BTU rate of the stoves you are comparing.
